Island: Racha Islands

The Racha Islands (or Raya Islands) are well known as some the best diving and snorkeling destinations in Thailand. 

Koh Racha Island or Koh Racha Yai (also called Raya Island) is a small idyllic island just 12 kilometers south of Phuket, popular for day trips, snorkeling, and scuba diving. 

Racha Yai reveals itself in splendid fashion, with most arrivals landing on a strip of fine white sand tucked deep into the long, U-shaped main bay. The waters are clear and excellent for snorkeling, though the bay gets quite busy with visiting boats in the afternoons

However, at night the island is pretty quiet with only a few restaurants and bars. The lack of bright lights means that the night sky is lit up with stars, great for stargazing on the beach.

The island is so small, it can only accommodate a few resorts. Believe it or not, even people living in Phuket need to get away once in a while and spend quality time on another little paradise island
